D4D N'Djamena Propositive Analysis
N'Djamena (Chad) Metropolitan Strategy Development Plan
N’Djamena, with just a million inhabitants, is suffering from the pressure of skyrocketing immigration due to the socio-economic situation of the outskirt regions of the country. N’Djamena is on the path of doubling (100% growth) in ten years.
No provision has been made for this incoming population, the traditional structured urban fabric has not been extended and the urban DNA pattern has been destroyed.
It is urgent to establish a mechanism of allocation of land to sustainably house the incoming population growth. The allocation of the land within an urban and metropolitan structure would only take 5% of the government’s annual oil revenues. The future of the country is at stake in absence of a responsible policy to address this national issue.
