Kabul is a destroyed city: Lack of hardware and software, lack of human and social resources, lack of governance and government.
But life goes on. And life means growth. The new urban expansion to the east is a well-located project to trigger a sound metropolitan structure.
The mountains north of the actual urban development have to be protected as a green (brown?) symbolic landscape.
Kabul has plenty of land for expansion. Wish they would be able to expand within the framework of a sustainable structure. This is what this propositive analysis presents.
Limits on growth will be imposed by limits of scarce resources as, essentially, water. Thresholds of sustainability will have to be determined. |
